INRIA

Objectives:
Enhancing illustrations with interactive AR capabilities: when scanned with a dedicated app, the artwork would come to life through animated augmented-reality sequences directly over the magazine’s pages.

Strategy & Execution:
To ensure perfect alignment, 3D replicas were created based on every illustration. This workflow allowed us to animate holographic representations of each innovation with precision and coherence.

Results:
Readers were able to enjoy an interactive experience directly within the magazine’s pages.

About INRIA
Inria, the French national research institute for digital science and technology, regularly publishes research reports and a regional magazine.

For one of their features on augmented reality, I created a series of 3D animations designed to visually interpret their latest research and innovations. Each illustration was enhanced with interactive AR capabilities: when scanned with a dedicated app, the artwork would come to life through animated augmented-reality sequences directly over the magazine’s pages.

The art direction followed a clean, stylized vector approach. Each illustration served as a visual marker for its corresponding augmented-reality animation. To ensure perfect alignment, 3D replicas were created based on every illustration. This workflow allowed us to animate holographic representations of each innovation with precision and coherence. As a Senior Motion Designer and Art Director, I was responsible for creating character design, and animation. I created a storyboard and edited the whole music video.
